ABOUT AOG
Who We Are
ABOUT US
Atlantic Outreach Group
Founded in 2010, we assist those that are overwhelmed by physical, mental, emotional, social and financial challenges, by providing resources that assist in making positive sustainable changes in their lives.
We act as a resource compass providing direction to individuals by bridging the gap between those in need and those who assist in meeting those needs through effective community programs and services.
Our Mission
Our Vision
A future where anyone in need has access to comprehensive support to overcome food insecurity and substance use barriers.
Our Values
We create lasting change through collaboration, uphold integrity and transparency, and strive for excellence while valuing diversity, dignity, and respect for all.
OUR HISTORY
AOG Through The Years
AOG obtained its 501c.3 designation and began providing resources to individuals reentering society from incarceration.
AOG moved to a new building to accommodate the new growth of our expanding programs.
Widened our service delivery area to include all vulnerable populations in the Greater Richmond area and not just individuals in reentry.
AOG operated as a resource center offering computer access, a small food pantry, a buss pass program, financial literacy, and emergency financial assistance.
Moved to our Westwood Avenue office, expanding to offer case management, community workshops, and essential resources like food, financial literacy, and life skills training. Growing needs for mental health, substance use, and housing support led to key partnerships, shaping our recovery programs.
Started the Temporary Emergency Housing Program after realizing that, in the last 8 years of providing resources, this was one of the most requested resources.
Expanded the Temporary Transitional Housing Program offerings. Food pantry model shifted with the Covid-19 pandemic and the number of individuals served increased.
Created the Fresh Start Program and the Ecosystem, with recovery housed becoming VARR certified. Started the Mobile Food Pantry to provide even greater access to food around Richmond.
Continued growth for the Fresh Start Program, increasing capacity, and expanding our continuum of care after program completion.
Moved into a 25,000 sq. ft. facility, centralizing programs to expand food assistance, recovery support, and sober living services for greater community impact.
