MEET AOG

What AOG Represents

Atlantic Outreach Group (AOG), is a community based 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to empowering individuals and families by connecting them to resources needed for their success.

Founded in 2010, we assist those that are overwhelmed by physical, mental, emotional, social and financial challenges, by providing resources that assist in making positive sustainable changes in their lives.

We act as a resource compass providing direction to individuals by bridging the gap between those in need and those who assist in meeting those needs through effective community programs and services.

OUR MISSION

AOG empowers individuals and communities experiencing food insecurity and substance use barriers by providing essential services that promote self sufficiency.

OUR PROGRAMS

Fresh Start Recovery Program

Fresh Start is a full service recovery program designed to help individuals who are experiencing substance use barriers transition to self-sufficient living. We also offer wrap-around services and resources to truly prepare participants for a fresh start at life.

OUR PROGRAMS

Food Pantry

We strive to provide a lifeline for individuals and families who struggle to put nutritious meals on their tables. Our food pantries are stocked with donated food items, both non-perishable and fresh, which are then distributed to those in need.

The impact of food pantries goes far beyond just providing sustenance. They offer a sense of hope and dignity to people facing challenging times. For many, accessing a food pantry can mean the difference between going to bed hungry and having a warm meal for the day.

OUR PROGRAMS

Pet Pantry

Because we know that pets are a part of the family, we are dedicated to providing temporary assistance to pet owners facing hardship by helping to keep their pets in their home. Pet owners facing hardship and financial challenges may have to make a hard choice between feeding their families or feeding their pet.

Some owners faced with this difficult decision are forced to give up their animal companions. Our goal is to make it possible for pets to stay in a loving home together by providing the basic nutrition every pet needs.

OUR PROGRAMS

Prevention+ Program

The Prevention+ Program is designed for our Fresh Start Recovery Program graduates that are seeking additional supports on their recovery journey and promotes a safe and healthy living environment that abstains from alcohol and other mind-altering substances.

Our principles and practices are based on the core values of hope, compassion, respect, honesty, responsibility and fairness during the journey to long lasting recovery.

GET INVOLVED

Become a Volunteer

We could not do the work we do without the support of volunteers. We value all of our volunteers who donate their time and resources to assist us in supporting our community.

Email the volunteer coordinator at [email protected] or call (804) 308-2648 and select the option for volunteering to leave a voicemail. We offer on-site and off-site volunteer opportunities.

Please bring your completed kits and other donations directly to the food pantry door at 2421 Westwood Avenue, Suite G, Richmond, VA 23230. Ring the doorbell there and wait for staff or a volunteer to receive the kits from you.

We are available to accept your kits any weekday except Tuesdays from 12:00PM to 3:00pm.

Please read over the instructions carefully to ensure that you can receive verification of your volunteer hours and that our clients receive the best quality kits.

The first ten kits are worth 2 volunteer hours each and additional kits are worth 1 hour each (for example, 15 kits = 25 volunteer hours)

Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions!
